Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)
The BBBEE Act establishes a legislative framework for the promotion of black economic empowerment which is driven through codes of good practice on black economic empowerment.
The codes establishes a set of elements for measurement and calculation that make up a scorecard that then can be verified by an accredited rating agency which then indicates a Company’s BBBEE status.
The elements of the scorecard currently are:
- Ownership
- Management Control
- Employment Equity
- Skills Development
- Preferential Procurement
- Enterprise Development
- Socio – Economic Development Initiatives
